Welcome to Koinos!
About Us
We are the Wilson family. The first and most important thing we'd like for you to know about us is that we are a family dedicated to living out God's divine purpose for us. Our family is centered around Jesus Christ. He is the reason we do everything that we do!
The second thing we'd like for you to know about us is that we have six beautiful children, three boys and three girls, who range in age from 17 to 33. We have graduated five of our children so far, with only one more to go! Our family is our greatest earthly blessing. In January of 2017, we welcomed our first grandchild to our family. She welcomed a little sister in March of 2022, and these two little ladies are the center of attention, for sure!
We've been homeschooling since 2002, and we are so thankful to live in a state with so much freedom. We try to always take the time to thank the brave homeschoolers of the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's for paving the way for us. I always tell people that homeschooling is one those things that we're "for sure" about! We know it's our calling, and we love it, even when it's challenging!
Here are some personal facts about us!
Michael has his degree in exercise science and is passionate about coaching and athletic training. Michael grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from Wayne State College in northern Nebraska, where he played Division II football for all four years. He did his sports internship at the Tom Landry Center for Sports Medicine, which is what brought him to Texas in 1994. Michael coached at Lake Country Christian School for two years and then served as the Defensive Coach/Coordinator for the THESA Riders varsity football team for 10 years.
Shelly has her degree in secondary education from TCU and is passionate about teaching. She serves on the Board of Directors and teaches English and Psychology at Dominion Equippers (DE). She has been a part of DE since it began in 2005. She is the administrator of the program and also handles returning-family registration. Shelly loves to hike, workout, and be active. She is a certified Pilates instructor and loves to play tennis, as well.
In 2016, we had a lifelong dream realized as we bought land and moved to northwest Wise County. In addition to the children, we have lots of animals that think they're our kids - dogs, cats, cows, sheep, & chickens!
Our family is blessed to attend Passage Church in Southlake, Texas. We love camping and traveling in our RV, as well as recreating with our extended family and friends. As we near our "empty nest" season of parenting, we are so grateful for all the experiences we've been able to enjoy as homeschoolers. We don't regret one day of homeschooling. We see much fruit in our grown children, and we are passionate about sharing our experiences with other homeschooling families.
Blessings,
The Wilson Family
